Kayla Mae Olmstead

Kayla was born with Left-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (LCDH). When she was born she was in the NICU for a total of 55 days. She reherniated two years later, had her repair surgery in May 2011 and spent 11 days in hospital recovering. She is a tough little girl and we are truly blessed to have her here.

Smart Girl 10/26/10

My girl is just a learning machine! This is probably a boring video for you though... but I had to document it. :)

Fall has arrived.. brr!

I do say brr.. but we have had some very nice days.  Here are some great pics of Kayla and her little sister Lily.

Kayla and Mom! <3

All is well w/ my family. Kayla seems to be doing pretty great! She is learning more and more words.. half of them it really takes me a second to understand... she still doesn't pronounce her b's and p's and replaces them w/ d's..so that is hard.  However, I know she can say those sounds bc she has before.  I'm pretty sure her hearing is just fine though.. she seems to get scared by the fire siren when it goes off... and it's not very loud in the house.. so i feel her hearing is ok.  She just needs more time.. she will get it.  She knows quite a few of her letters too! :) She does have her next x-ray coming up on Nov. 3... I'm quite nervous for that.  We think she is ok, but ya never know- and w/ how her appt went last time.. just puts ya on edge.

Lily is surviving the Kayla temper tantrums and seems to enjoy Kayla's company.  However, Kayla doesn't sit still long enough for Lily. It's so cute to watch Lily watch Kayla. :) Kayla still gets a little jealous from time to time...but overall life is good! <3

Praying all goes well through the cold and flu months for everyone!!
