Kayla Mae Olmstead

Kayla was born with Left-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (LCDH). When she was born she was in the NICU for a total of 55 days. She reherniated two years later, had her repair surgery in May 2011 and spent 11 days in hospital recovering. She is a tough little girl and we are truly blessed to have her here.

Sick of Winter

I'm sick of the cold weather.. sick of the snow and sick of wearing a winter coat that barely fits me bc of my big ol belly!! I think K is sick of being cooped up inside too-
let me out ma!

Kayla is 11 months and a half now.. so close to a year!  It seems like just yesterday I brought her home from the NICU and said I can't wait till she is a year old! haha it's finally here! She will not have a party- maybe we will make our annual family bbq in the summer be partial bday party too.  And of course there will be no SNOW in the summer- so it will be warm temps and fun to be had by all! But for K's bday I have already ordered her gifts and a bday outfit- problem is I don't know if it'll match.. haha hoping it does!! I have some what decided on making heart shaped cupcakes for her bday but not sure.. any ideas? I love to make desserts... and be creative- but I am not Patty - her turtle cake was amazing!

Anyway- here are some cute pics.. this post was just to complain about the winter.. it's wearing on me! and K too!

Happy Valentine's Day!

knows where her toy box is.. squatting down to see which she would like to play with! haha
just got done drinking a bottle all by herself!
eating toast with butter!
Kayla, for the first time, got to play with other kids.  Jer and I have been real, over-protective with this winter, and decided since our best friends and their kids were all healthy, that having them come over Friday night was ok.  K LOVED it! :)

and finally- mommy and kayla! :)

Video of K playing peek-a-boo... she just learned how to do it and she does it so fast sometimes it's so cute! :) haha When she first learned how to do it last night, she got so excited she could hardly keep her hands up at her eyes to play- she would throw them down and do a little excited dance! It was so funny!!
