Kayla Mae Olmstead

Kayla was born with Left-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (LCDH). When she was born she was in the NICU for a total of 55 days. She reherniated two years later, had her repair surgery in May 2011 and spent 11 days in hospital recovering. She is a tough little girl and we are truly blessed to have her here.

Warm Weather

It's been a while since I have posted.. it seems with Kayla getting older, and me getting more and more preggers, it's hard to find the energy to get on the computer at night and post.  It's strange- all I would have to do is sit down in front of the computer, but once my bum hits the couch after Kayla goes down, I don't often move until bed time! :)

There honestly hasn't been much going on.  Thankfully! :) Kayla is doing well- no she still isn't talking like she should be, but I'm not too worried because she is doing all the communicating things she was supposed to be doing a while ago- so I'm just assuming she is doing everything last minute to make me worry. :) She points to things and waits for a response, she talks (babbles) all the time.. she can say hi, mom, and dada- but we don't think she actually knows she is saying it. I did just teach her the sign more- it doesn't look like I do it... but she knows it's different from a clap and will do it when I say more while eating (sometimes). She is a screamer.. hopefully w/ more talking she'll stop that.

She does walk and is able to stand up without pulling on something- She LOVES the outdoors and the water. :) She knows one of our cats names- the other she doesn't see too much.  She can show you where her head, hair, belly, toes, and knees are.  When you say "where is your nose" she'll point to her face, but her finger always ends up in her mouth. :) She won't go to bed or naps w/o her two dolls, and when we go to pick her up from her crib- she always has both of them in her hands to take back downstairs.  She is still just a fruit girl- I've tried everything to get her to eat veggies-- nothing works!!

All in all, we are doing well.  New baby girl will be named Liliana Rae, Lily for short.  We are excited but not even close to ready for her! :)

Here are some pics and a video of my baby girl - :) Some outdoor fun this weekend!! We had a great time!
